Part Time Police Officer - Calumet City Police Department​

The Calumet City Police Department is seeking experienced police officers to be employed as part time police officers. The Calumet City Police Department serves a population of 36,500 residents strong in ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity. Part time/reserve officers are responsible for duties as directed by the Chief of Police.
These duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Aid in general police activities
  • Provide general security of public buildings
  • Booking and processing of arrestees
  • Aid in prisoner transport
  • Assisting other divisions within the Calumet City Police Department as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess a valid Firearm’s Owner Identification (FOID) or ability to obtain one
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board as a police officer
  • Must be in compliance with all state mandates as prescribed by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board
  • Must be eligible for a waiver at the time of application by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board for basic
    law enforcement training
  • Must be proficient and successfully qualify with firearms
  • Must have active law enforcement service within the last 12 months
  • Minimum of 5 years’ law enforcement experience is preferred
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation including polygraph, psychological, medical screening, and drug screening
  • Must be available to work all 3 work shifts, weekends, holidays and extended hours when necessary
  • Must complete the mandatory 600-hour Field Training Program within (14) fourteen months of date of hire

IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFIERS:

Conviction for any felony offense under the laws of this State or any other state which if committed in this State would be punishable as a felony (50 ILCS 705/6.1)
Conviction of any Misdemeanor as described under section 50 ILCS 705/6.1 of the Illinois Compiled Statues
50 ILCS 705/6.1 (a-1) For purposes of this Section, a person is “convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty to, plea of nolo contendere to, found guilty of” regardless of whether the adjudication of guilt or sentence is withheld or not entered thereon. This includes sentences of supervision, conditional discharge, or first offender probation, or any similar disposition provided for by law.
