The mission statement of The Thornton Township Food Assistance Program seeks to serve the needs of the community, and to answer the needs of the community for food assistance.
We recognize and understand that persons of fixed incomes or underemployed deserve good quality nutritional food, and to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race, sex, ethnic background, religion, or socio-economic standing.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository
The Greater Chicago Food Depository is Cook County’s local food bank. We provide food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. Working with a network of more than 700 partner agencies and programs including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, we provide food and hope for our neighbors in need every day.

Senior Transportation Services
The Senior Transportation Program is a Curb to Curb Service provided by Thornton Township for its residents, 60 years of age and older. Transportation is provided to any point of the Township and designated medical facilities only.
A 3 day business day notice for appointment is greatly appreciated. All appointments and adjustments must be made through the dispatch office.
