Welcome to the City of Calumet City. I am proud to serve as your mayor! Calumet City is truly like a family – when one triumphs, we all triumph. However, when one is suffering, we all suffer. We are working together so that Calumet City becomes the premier entertainment destination in our region for years to come.
Our village was founded in 1893 by immigrant settlers. Our rich history has included a heritage of faith in God with an important emphasis on unity in the family. This heritage has outlined and defined who we are as a community. As we have grown into a diverse community we have retained and nurtured this traditional value system, which continues to provide a strong foundation for us as a village.
Today, as we look back on what God has brought Calumet City through, we must give thanks for being able to celebrate our lives, our families, and celebrate our community – Calumet City! My plans for our city are bold, creative, and my plans involve you, the residents of Calumet City.
However, to build a better city with great restaurants, new construction, new housing, and to reduce crime; it all starts with you getting involved with your city government. The first step to that involvement is to sign up today to establish a block club on your block. Forms are available online to assist you with this process. I am asking that you gather 10-15 of your neighbors each week and meet either in person or via zoom and discuss issues on your block.
Our mission as a Board and Administration is to create an atmosphere where each resident feels the acceptance of their neighbor and community. Through increased communication from our website, newsletters, and our door-to-door contact program, it is my goal to rebuild and reconnect residents to their government. We want to hear your concerns and listen to your ideas of how you want your government to look, act, and respond to the needs of your community. We are committed to working side by side with our churches, businesses, schools, service organizations, and residential leadership to accomplish this goal.
Calumet City remains strong in ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity. While we have learned from the past, we face the future with a fresh, new, and energetic vision.
Whether you are a new resident seeking information about services, a business looking for more detail, or simply viewing the site for potential opportunities, we are here to help.
I am confident that you will find our city to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family. If I, the City Council, or my administration can be of any assistance to you, please let us know.
