Thaddeus M. Jones was elected as the Mayor of the City of Calumet City and began his tenure on May 1, 2021. Mayor Jones is the chief executive and administrative officer of the City charged with carrying out the polices set by the City Council and seeing to it that laws are enforced.

He works diligently with his City Council made up of elected officials encompassing seven Aldermen, City Treasurer, and City Clerk. The City is a Mayor-Council form of government – and the Mayor is the duly-elected officer responsible for all administrative functions with the assistance of his appointed Chief of Staff.

However, the most important parts of Mayor Jones’ leadership role entails economic development and revitalization, public safety, and improving quality of life for residents – in addition to advancing community cohesion and promoting civic awareness.

Mayor Jones takes a heartfelt approach to moving Calumet City forward, utilizing strategic expertise and the support of the City Council and administrative Departments.
