Cook County Judge Kenneth Wright has issued an order that prohibits the Cook County Sheriff’s Eviction Unit from enforcing an Order of Possession (Eviction) from December 19, 2022, through at least January 4, 2023.
This eviction moratorium is done each year around this time, both for the Holidays and due to the weather conditions. The moratorium will remain in place while temperatures are 15*F or below, or if extreme weather conditions endanger the health and welfare of people that would otherwise be evicted from their home.
